Life is never as easy as Pinterest makes it look, is it?
I saw this post today and thought: “Oh! I’ll make that! Easy-peasy.” Well, like most things, it took some determination and some conversation and some adjusting … wait … that’s what ALL good things require!
So, if you’re looking for something fun that you can do with your kids (notice I did not say healthy, I said fun) then give this a try. We did it a few times before finally figuring out what made it look cool.
Turns out, there really is a “science” to it!
Have fun!
STEP ONE: Pour fruit juice over ice. Sorry, but it has to be the sugary kind. That pesky “good for you” stuff won’t work for this treat. The sugar weighs more. So it needs to be sugary to stay on the bottom of the cup.
STEP 2: Use a spoon to diffuse the blue drink (we found, after three tries, that a mixture of Gatorade, water and one drop of blue food coloring for show worked best) to carefully add the second layer to your drink.
STEP THREE: Same thing—carefully pour the diet whatever (we used Sprite Zero) on the top. Go slow!
STEP FOUR: Enjoy! You did it! Be sure to talk to your kids about “why” this works 🙂
Happy Independence Day! God Bless America!
Have Fun With Your Kids,
Good, cause I tried it… and it did not work for me… disappointed, but headed to the blog 🙂
Mixology at its finest!!
When we elect a president we have a celebration, no matter who wins, and one of the things I make are these drinks! The kids love them! We also have a dessert that set above the plates that looks like and American Eagle. We have Stars and Stripes everywhere. My kids love the drinks! They think I am magic!
OH Cindy! pictures 😉
Love it enjoy the kids why they are young
Epic fail x the 18 kids at my house! We tried!!!
Same here, tried it, twice, ended up with a purple drink…going to have to try again!
you have to fill the cup with ice first, the poor the fruit punch over an upside down spoon and then the blue gatorade over an upside down spoon. We did the sprite first and it worked great! We ended up with purple the first time we did it too until we learned the spoon trick….try again….it works – so fun!
We did these today too. The kids were in awe! Loved it 🙂
We did it as well but with different drinks ~ Cranapple juice on the bottom, Sobe Pina Colada in the middle and the blue Gatorade!!! SO good and fun to work together to make it remain seperate 🙂
Tried again, using you tips and it worked YAY!! So excited!!
Use the low-cal blueberry-pomegranate Gatorade as the sugar content is much lower and then you don’t have to mix with water etc. The other blue gatorades we found are too close in sugar amount as the fruit punch making them mix rather than staying separate. Mixing with water was a great solution though!!!
We did this yesterday w/cran apple, white gatorade, and blue G2, and it only required a slow pour. It worked and the kids loved it w/s’mores. 🙂
How much water do you mix with the Gatorade?
