  1. You go , Girl! Thanks for all the helpful tips…it IS possible to enjoy a special meal with pre-planning. Every single meal I made the first 6 months our son was gluten-free got a thumbs down from the.whole.family. Yes, lots of crying went on in my kitchen. But 10 years later we had developed a TON of favorite recipes, menus, and treats. The “entitlement” conversation is a great point…thankful hearts change the outlook.

    1. I love you. 🙂 I wish I was sitting at *your* thanksgiving table this year! You and the other girls in our family always make such a great effort to make things safe! It offers rest to me.

  2. Just thought of this…we asked the 7 local cousins last week what they wanted to see walking through the Thanksgiving buffet line… This is our menu: turkey, extra turkey legs, mashed potatoes, party potatoes, green beans, and Uncle Dan’s cupcakes. THAT is our menu. We will add a grown-up desire or two, but it can definitely be simple and yummy!

  3. I love what your wrote about the poor me. It is so true. When we go through times where food issues are tough, I remind my kids of that same thing. As tough as it is, it could be so much worse. It is important to keep that in perspective. So thanks for the reminder!

  4. Would you mind sharing your allergy free Oatmeal Raisin cookie? That sounds great. We are egg free-gluten free around here, and at times that seems to be a difficult combo.

  5. Thank you for sharing! As I plan for the holidays I appreciate those that understand this challenge.

Where can I find your bread/roll recipe? I have yet to find one the family likes.

  6. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We just became an allergy family about 4 months ago. We have had to eliminate just about everything (wheat, corn, soy, maple, pecans, and the list keeps going). It has been a very difficult transition for us. This was a big encouragement. Can you please share you oatmeal raisin cookie recipe?

  7. My 11 year old grandson has severe tree nut and dairy allergies. Love seeing how others deal with the daily challenges of making their lives as normal as possible.

  8. Thank you so much Heidi for the ideas! Myself and our girls have allergies/sensitivities and it is tricky around the holidays. But these recipes seem do-able. Great tips! 🙂
