Learning to Let Go and Be Led | 1003

Do you remember the very first time you help your child in your arms? Do you remember the weight of responsibility and the incredible love that you felt? Of course you do. I remember feeling overwhelmed at the thought that the hospital staff would let me take home a brand new, 9 pound human being. I mean, let’s be honest… I didn’t know what I was doing! Truly, I was just making it up as I went along. Come to think of it, I’m still doing that in many respects. Most of my seven children are grown now. They are getting married and having children of their own… and I find I am navigating yet another season of motherhood that I will confess to feeling unprepared for. Motherhood is humbling in every stage and in every season.

The challenge I am facing now is how to let my children leave. It is both heartbreaking and exhilarating, and I find I am leaning even into the Lord.
