Brad Klippert was born and raised in Sunnyside, graduating from Sunnyside High school in 1975.

​He received EMT training from Columbia Basin College, Paramedic training from Central Washington University, a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and Biblical Studies from Northwest University, and a Master’s in Teaching from City University.

In 1987 Brad joined the Army where he served as an Aviator, with nearly thirty years in Active Service, with the Reserve, and the Army National Guard. Since 2016 he served as the Commander of the Washington State Guard, and officially retired as Commander in January, 2022.

Brad has never shied away from work, often holding multiple jobs at any one time. In addition to his decorated military career, he has been a lifeguard, welder, shop foreman, millwright, EMT, paramedic, paramedic firefighter, corrections officer, sheriff’s deputy, teacher, and youth pastor. He has been a Benton County Sheriff’s Deputy for over twenty years with most or all of that time overlapping with his military duties and his service to the constituents of the 8th legislative district in the Washington State House. He has also taught at the elementary, middle, high school, and college levels.
Brad was first elected to public office in 2008 to represent the 8th legislative district and has been re-elected with overwhelming majorities in every subsequent election. Brad is a 7-term State House Representative. He currently serves as the House Minority Vice-Caucus Chair.

He has been recognized by several organizations for his service in the Legislature and community including The ARC of Washington state, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Association of Washington Business, the Fraternal Order of Police, WA Council, the WA Sheriff’s and Police Chiefs, and the Washington Food Industry Association. He received honors from the United States Army for military excellence and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for heroic efforts.

Brad is married to his wife of thirty years Kim. They reside in Kennewick and have three adult children; Alexis, Mason, and Aubrey. Brad is passionate about his faith, his family, and his country.
