Long Days of Small Things: An Interview with Catherine McNiel

Today, guest Catherine McNiel offers encouragement for moms who may think of their job as less than miraculous. Listen in and be encouraged!

Catherine McNiel survived her children’s preschool years by learning to find beauty in the mayhem. Now, she writes to open the eyes of weary moms to God’s creative, redemptive work in each day. Catherine serves alongside her husband in a community-based ministry while she cares for three kids, works two jobs, and grows one enormous garden. See more about Catherine here!

Rich, soul-inspiring practices for moms who have neither quiet nor time.

Dirty laundry, crayon-smeared bills, and smashed crackers . . . And there’s your Bible―buried under a pile of diapers. Bleary-eyed from lack of sleep, without a moment of peace and quiet, you wonder if the spiritual life you crave is even possible. But God sees you. He designed this parenting journey, after all. He understands the chaos of motherhood. And he joins you in everything―whether you’re scrubbing the floor, nursing a fussy newborn, or driving to soccer practice. Catherine McNiel invites you to connect with God right here, in the sacred mundane of every mothering moment.  Read the first chapter here!

Bereans Wanted: Five Ways You Can Practice Biblical Discernment #434

Join me today as I talk about five ways you can learn to become a Berean, and teach your children to do the same. Listen in!

Bereans Wanted: A Conversation About the Shack #433

I read The Shack shortly after it was released.  A dear friend suggested it to me—and I read it cover to cover on a flight from Portland to North Carolina. I won’t lie: I was drawn in by the story. As a woman who has struggled square suffering with the goodness of God, The Shack touched my heart. William “Paul” Young did a great job of showing the grace and love of God—His heart for a hurting and lost world. That said, I could never recommend the book or the movie to anyone unless I was prepared to have the conversation I’m having with you today on the podcast. Listen in!

Dare to Be a Daniel: Talking to Your Kids About Standing for The Lord – This is startlingly new territory for parents: explaining why a man is being celebrated as a woman on the cover of a magazine is not something we’re used to talking about. Here’s the thing: If we don’t set a place for the truth of Scripture at the table of our children’s hearts, the world will set out a feast all it’s own.

What Are We Like When No One Else is Watching? -Are we growing in our walk with God? Today, we’re talking about a “big” word … sanctification. It’s a big word that means a simple thing: grow.  Grow. As Christians, we’re called to live set apart lives—no matter who’s watching.
