“Off the Bench” with Guest Gwen Smith – 664

Today, I am joined by my effervescent friend, Gwen Smith, of the Graceology podcast. Listen in as we share encouragement from the Bible and practical tips for how you can stay strong when life knocks you to your knees.  Get off the bench! God is at your side!
Gwen Smith is a popular conference speaker, author, worship leader, podcaster and volleyball enthusiast who lives in sunny North Carolina and has been married to her hunky college honey, Brad, for 25 years. They are tired parents to three tall, competitive-sport-playing young people who keep them on their toes and on their knees. Her online friends meet at GwenSmith.net where she helps women know and trust God more. Her podcast, GRACEOLOGY with Gwen Smith, has fun, faith-focused, grace-filled interview-style conversations with practical tips and honest discussions to encourage women in meaningful ways to live out and lean on the grace of Jesus in the midst of cluttered, messy days. Gwen speaks, leads worship, and eats potato chips at women’s events everywhere, and she is a co-founder of the conference and devotional ministry Girlfriends in God.
Connect with Gwen on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter where she hangs out as @GwenSmithMusic.

If we want to have a FAITH BEYOND our FEELINGS, FEARs, and FAILURES we need to stand firm when our emotions threaten to overwhelm us and courageously believe God for big things. We need to be women who KNEEEL.

I came up with this simple ACRONYM to help us remember how to stand firm in faith when our knees knock:

         K – Know Him

N – Notify: My Heart, My Enemy & My Girlfriends

         E – Express the Mess

E – Exchange My Will For God’s Will

E – Expand My Heart In Worship

         L – Learn the Word

#Off the Bench with Andrey Ivanov of Flash Love – 661

Ever wonder what one person getting off the bench can accomplish for the Kingdom? Join Heidi today for an inspiring story of love and compassion in action!

Flash Love is a simple message through actions by the people who are ready to make a difference in this broken world. We work with high school age youth teaching them leadership by example as we identify needs in our community. We also work with boys referred to us by teachers, counselors and social workers by helping them understand their roles in life as men. Both of our target demographics help us serve struggling families and seniors that are evicted or unable to clean up their yards, have food insufficiency or need help moving. We respond as often as we can using each opportunity to comprehend the struggles and display compassion to the least of those around us.

Measuring Your Version of Christianity – 659

There is a version of “Christianity” that is troubling on many levels, and we must be aware and learn to measure it against the Word of God. Jesus did not die so that we can wallow in our sin. He died so that we can be reconciled to the Lord! Transformation happens in the deep as we pursue Jesus. If we spend all of our time in the shallows, we won’t grow. Know your word, Sister, and don’t miss today’s podcast!

How Can We Support Public School Teachers? – 658

I talk a lot about homeschooling on my podcast, because it’s what we do, but there are millions of children in public school each day being loved by their hard-working teachers. Today I have one of my closest friends as our special guest. Carol Bates is my daughter’s mother-in-law, and is joining us to share how we can pray for and support teachers each day as they minister to all of our children, even if you don’t have children in the public school system.
