“I’m Sonja Shaw, President of the Chino Valley Unified School Board. Before stepping into this role, I was just like many of you—working hard and staying out of politics. When the world shut down, it was a gift from God, revealing what politicians in Sacramento and across the nation were doing. We were heading toward a dangerous place with no brakes in sight. That’s when I got involved. As Christians, we have a moral obligation to protect children. While my kids were safe, I knew many others weren’t as fortunate, and that’s what drove me to take action.
I ran for the school board with community support, defeating the incumbent backed by unions and special interest groups. Despite her spending $150,000 to run against a soccer mom, we knocked on doors and walked every street to inform people about what was happening (she had white house employees, meta, attorney generals, ect) donate to her campaign. Since taking office, we’ve emphasized that parents have rights, even as Attorney General Bonta sues us and the political establishment pushes bills to stop us from notifying parents.
We were the first California school district to implement a parent notification policy and a policy allowing only the California, USA, and military flags on our campuses. We also enacted a policy to remove sexually explicit books from our libraries. Common sense policies. Because of these actions, my family and I have faced multiple death threats, and I’ve even been targeted by Meta.
