Have you taken a peek on Pinterest lately? Whew. That can be a tad bit overwhelming! So, I found what I think are some EASY and FUN activities and crafts to do with your children while you are learning all about SNOW.

I hope you find some inspiration in this post! Don’t forget to GET OUTSIDE and ENJOY the winter weather. Even if it’s cold, I encourage you to get outside even if for a few moments. Nature walks in the winter afford many different lessons that you can’t gain in the summertime! And, no matter where you live, whether it gets super cold or never snows at all, there are bound to be some differences in the weather that you can discuss with your kids!

Maybe you’d like to memorize the poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening with your children! This is the perfect poem for January!

Happy Winter, busy moms!  What is your favorite winter weather activity?

Another book you might enjoy is about a boy who helps people during the blizzard of 1888, called The Snow Walker, by Margaret K. Wetterer.

If you can find it, you should track down a copy of “It’s Snowing! It’s Snowing! Winter Poems” by Jack Prelutsky. It’s An I Can Read Book Level 3. There’s a poem in it called “My Mother’s Got Me Bundled Up” that my kids have almost memorized and they bust up laughing every time from my 5 year old on up to my 14 year old. If it snows, here in Kentucky, someone is sure to find this book on our shelves and read it to the others! Thanks for your list of books and ideas. We also LOVE the book on Snowflake Bently!!

Wonderful book suggestions. My daughter just turned 5 and it’s pretty cold here in Buffalo so we don’t get outside as much as I’d like to. When it’s a high of 5 degrees it’s too cold to go sledding or skating, we love both! She’s not enrolled in pre-school so outings are vital. And she’s quite social, so it’s tough! I need new books to get her out of my hair so I can make dinner =) She loves her Sunday School class and learning about Jesus and all the Bible books we read at home.

We take a laundry basket to the library when we go. 🙂 Books are a great distraction during the cold winter months. Thanks for stopping by, Laura!
