The first time I heard you speak was last year at the NC Homeschool conference, & was so uplifted by your words of inspiration (just listened to the CDs again today to refuel my homeschool tank)! Love your blog as it encourages all of us homeschool moms from simple words of encouragement to recipes when we don’t feel like thinking about what to throw together for dinner to comical posts for the times when we are in desperate need of a laugh. Thank you!!

The first time I heard you speak was on a webcast and listening to your thoughts and attitude towards homeschool ultimately made me decided to homeschool, as I was teeter tottering before! Now I spread the word about your blog to other homeschool Moms because I have daily been encouraged and blessed by your words of wisdom, grace, and “real” attitude towards not just homeschooling but raising children and serving my husband. It’s totally changed my mindset in my marriage and childrearing for the better x1000!

The #1 reason I recommend people to your blog and FB page (and I highly recommend your books!) is because you are so inspiring!! Almost everything you write speaks to my heart and I can tell that God is working through you to reach so many people. Your words are very encouraging and help people to know that they aren’t alone in their struggles, and you help people see ways they can improve their family relationships and their relationship with God. I first saw Heidi St. John last year at the NCHE conference in WS. My husband and I attended “Homeschooling High Schoolers, YES YOU CAN” and “The 10 Marriage Myths that will Steal Your Joy.” Heidi is an awesome and vibrant speaker, no time to snooze in her sessions. She is the kind of speaker, you could sit & listen longer. I also love that she’s so bold & honest in her stance about how important it is to have a strong marriage & how it should be a priority. This is just a few reasons why I LOVE Heidi and would recommend her! I also love her encouraging posts on FB & share them with all my friends, whether they homeschool or not.

You’ve really been an encouragement to me in my struggle to balance homeschooling and character development, which are not mutually exclusive and character is way more important than the academics.

I still have a hard time putting my husband before my kids. Growing up in a broken family where I don’t feel like kids were a priority at all (drugs and friends came before kids), it’s hard for me to not make my kids a priority. You do well in helping to show the priority as God, then spouse, then children, everything else after.

So, you’re an inspiration in multiple areas of my life. Those are the reasons I share you with others. The struggles I have are not just ones I have, but are very common. I’d like to hog you and keep you all to myself, but your ministry does much better when shared. πŸ™‚

I absolutely love your page. It seems like on the days that I’m dragging, it’s such an encouragement. On the days that I need a giggle, you post something awesome (and cute and clean!). Facebook is a world full of awful nasty things sometimes (even among Christians, unfortunately), and it’s great to know that if you post something that shows up in my newsfeed, and my kiddos happen to walk by, they aren’t going to see anything filthy. Just an awesome, encouraging note, from one busy homeschool mom to many others :). Keep it up!

I recommend you because you are encouraging to such a broad range of moms teaching their kids. I’m only starting, and was homeschooled myself K-12, but I have found encouragement in your posts. I also heard you speak at a conference about notebooking, and it helped me get an idea of how I want to begin with my littles. πŸ™‚

After hearing you speak on FamilyLife Today I realized you were speaking on where I was in life presently. I was so encouraged and continue to be by the daily post through Facebook. I recommend The Busy Homeschool Mom for a couple of reasons but the main one would be the honesty, truth and encouragement that is given on a daily basis.

It’s refreshing to have a godly voice reminding me of the right perspective – God, husband, then children. Your words are biblical, practical, and encouraging. It’s obvious you take your calling as wife, mother, and keeper of the home with joy and reading your posts help me to push all the other “stuff” aside and get back to the truth – its a high calling and privledge, do it to bring glory to God – the One who gave you this family. All for His glory! πŸ™‚

I have found such support here. I live in a rural area where there aren’t a lot of options for homeschool support groups/coops. So I am especially glad to have found your blog and facebook page. They are daily encouragement to me as they remind me that I am not alone; that my feelings are normal and that my children are normal and will not only survive the homeschooling process but very likely thrive in it (they are after only a few months). Since finding your blog & facebook page I have relaxed a lot because it seems that you have just the right thing to say when I need to hear it. If I didn’t know any better I’d think you had a hidden camera in my house because your timing is so perfect… but I realize that’s just the way God works. Thank you for the support and encouragement.

I love how I know the advice given has been tried and proven. It’s not just someone suggesting something. It’s other families who have gone through or are going through the same things and are offering advice. THAT is why I recommend it!! When I’m overwhelmed I always find something that encourages me here.

As a military wife and homeschooling mom I often feel isoalted because I am usually the “new person in town” and I have my hands full teaching my little ones through the day. It is a challenge to find the time to really connect outside of homeschool co-ops. Your blog is like a hug, a bit of camaraderie, somewhere I can check in and see that I’m really doing all right and I’m not alone out here. And, it makes me laugh. Thanks for all you do! =D

I started homeschooling this year because we wanted to have the freedom to do what WE wanted on my husband’s days off instead of having to wait for the weekends when my now 2nd grader was off. Homeschooling quickly became more time consuming than public school was because I felt I had to do every good teaching idea I came across. Your posts are a great reminder to make time to have fun together, and that family time is just as important, if not more so, than teaching the curriculum that I’ve piled on our day. My husband thanks you!

By God’s Grace I was directed to your website. I have three adopted daughters and feel like I can barely keep my head above water at times with several of their issues. It was during a very difficult and trying time that I found your site and I am forever grateful. I quickly realized that I’m not the only one out there trying to bring up godly little women and that stressing out over curriculum is NOT what its about. I am so blessed by your posts and your constant encouragement. I highly recommend your blog and FB page to any new or seasoned homeschool mama. Thank you for all you do and for providing such a great resource to all of us!!!

I always say that it takes a village to raise a child – that is why I offer other sources for my friends to learn from when they question me on homeschooling. No better source to send them to than you! Thank you for taking time to keep us encouraged, motivated, educated and laughing!

This is our 3rd year homeschooling. Since starting to homeschool, we have added two new kids to our family. It is challenging having an infant, a toddler, and 4 school age kids. I tell my husband every day what an encouragement your blog is to me. I especially loved your post about different seasons. I realized that if we have a bad day, bad week, even a bad year…it isn’t the end of the world. It is wonderful to hear that I am not alone in my overwhelmed, messy, sometimes (well many times) not perfect school day, etc. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement & also for your challenges. You help this mom stay sane and keeps me pressing forward for the long term goals.

Your blog is real. You describe the homeschooling journey to a tee! You clearly understand the ups and downs, the happy days and the days of drudgery. This honest realness refreshes my heart as I read your Biblical encouragements and practical tips! You’re not putting on a show nor pretending to have it all together. You’re one of us, and that’s significant! Thanks for investing your time and energy into helping us all become more like Jesus in this journey together.

How can I tell you all that you’ve done for me. Reminded me to think about dinner. Helped me to realize I am one woman. In being one woman, to my family I am very important and loved even if everyone is crying and no one has said anything to me lately. Mostly you’ve shown me it’s ok to laugh and cry, it’s ok not to be perfect and my children will love me even if we don’t have great days. You’ve empowered me, lifted me, and well, I can’t thank you enough. <3

I love the real life inspiration. I like that I can count on Heidi telling the truth and being real about it~that sometimes we yell at our kids when we shouldn’t, how cereal for dinner won’t kill us, and how we need to nurture our relationship with our husband FIRST.

I love your blog! I am a stay at home, home schooling mom to a 6 year old, 4 year old, 2 year old and 6 month old. It can get challenging and tiring at times. There are times when I feel like we all might be better off if I gave up. Your blog is wonderful inspiration and motivation to keep going. You also give me the little chuckles and pick me ups that I sometimes need during the day. You are so real and I love that! Thank you from one busy homeschool mom to another!

I recommend “The Busy Homeschool Mom” because it’s my number one reminder that God comes first and then my husband comes before EVERYTHING else. As homeschool moms, our families and marriages can fall apart when we get it out of order. When I first found TBHM, I was thrilled to see that putting my husband before kids was the RIGHT thing to do. Such a marriage changer! What a joy to celebrate being “That Girl” and sharing with other mom friends that they are also “THAT girl”. My husband definitely says thank you for helping me get my priorities in order! As a matter of fact, we are celebrating our marriage by taking a LONG overdue (as in over 10 years)weekend away to Teach Them Diligently in Nashville. What’s more romantic than Gaylord Opryland? Feed our marriage, feed our souls, and come back more ready to “feed” our family!

The number one reason I recommend your site is because I always find it encouraging to know that other families can see how real homeschooling is. Is so nice to have the encouragement and posts from your site! We are in our 3rd year of homeschooling and have found it quite challenging this year for many many reasons…new baby with bad colic, reflux and food sensitivities, sensory integration dysfuntion issues in our 2nd grader, life….you name it….it’s been tough! Thanks for all you do to encourage other homeschooling families!

I recommend people read your wise words because they are encouraging on the road to homeschooling, parenting, and being a Godly wife. I also love that you and Jay are always reminding people of the awesome task that should be our priority in homeschooling: to disciple our kids! Academics matter, but not as much as spending time with our kiddos and instilling in them a love of the Lord and shaping their character! Thank you for your wise words!!!
